Today is a trying day for me.  I think I should go to church tomorrow regardless of the crowd, I need collective spirits surrounding me.  Sometimes you think you have all the answers and then there's another trial.  Well enough about me.  I discovered a couple of websites today that are interesting, so I'm going to share them with you.  Here is one:  http://www.glaaqn.com is a website of African American Quilters.  I like that this organization consists of mostly seasoned quilters.  I can see from their gallery some of the projects that I have collected patterns for and have also worked on.  Sometimes you just want to recreate someone else's works because it speaks to you, it gives you motivation to create, or sets you down the path of original works.  I believe that is what an artist who creates effective work is looking for, to reach the mind, spirit, and soul of another that sees the light at the end of the tunnel, or sees things the way they do, no matter how big or small.  Here is quick instruction link I just posted on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y576oeUavhI

Working on a photo album -                                                          A small bookbag that I created, I think
                                                                                                     it's cute -

Easter fun - still needing finishing touches

So let's talk about Easter dinner.  What are you preparing?  I have an idea, how about Pork Roast, Roast Chicken, or Rack of Lamb with Green Beans, or Brussel Sprouts or Carrots and a dessert like Berries with Marscapone or Honey Pears.  What ideas do you have?

FYI - Today I discovered a new series for television that came out in 2008.  It is called The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency.  I discovered through Netflix but it may be available through other sources.  It is shot in Africa and I am totally intrigued.  Good job!! It features +Jill Scott and +Aniki Noni Rose.  It was originally an HBO production.  I never  heard of it before today.  I watched episode 1 (pilot) and 2.

Overslept.  This morning I planned to go to church.  I try not to be part of the crowd on Easter Sunday.  I guess my mind said yes, you're going to church tomorrow and my body said, no I don't think so, because when I woke up church service was already in progress for 1 hour.  Late for 15 minutes is one thing, but 2 hours is not acceptable.  So, I am turning on my Sirius XM online radio service, and I'm going to listen to the +Praise channel,.there we go Awesome, by +Pastor Charles Jenkins.  "My God is awesome, awesome, savior of the whole world, today I am forgiven, his grace is why I'm living, praise his holy name."  Here is another one, so sweet, so simple, so true, sometimes you think God is not listening, +Marvin Winans explains in Just Don't Wanna Know, "I came to you in love, I came to you in earnest, can you explain the flame, can you explain the furnace".  Well enjoy your day, I'm going to enjoy mine.

On to lay out my next projects.

What's on your bucket list?  This is on mine!
1.  Help my 20 year old succeed in life;
2.  Travel to 5 continents, (I've traveled to Asia, Europe, I need to go to South America, Africa, Australia);
3.  Write a successful book;
4.  Enjoy some grandchildren (out of my control);
5.  Travel in the United States to places like DC, New York, Chicago, New Orleans, Martha's Vineyard
6.  Live until I'm ready to go;
7.  Meet +Oprah Winfrey.

My list does not have to be in this particular order, but I would like all of these things.  I was going to put down take a cruise on a ship but for some reason I'm afraid to get on a boat of that size and go out into the ocean.  Maybe someone can share their feelings about this, they may have had an exceptional time.

Please take a moment and read this:  My great niece is trying to go to Africa with her church.  If your heart is leading you to help her out go to the link.  She will be most appreciative.

Dear Family and Friends,
God has revealed to me the importance of impacting His kingdom for all eternity and I want to share with you a challenging ministry opportunity that has been presented to me.
I have been selected to travel with my youth ministry from Elizabeth Baptist Church to South Africa! This trip will involve several projects including ministering to local children through vacation Bible school, sports camp, working at a local Christian school leading art and drama classes, and sharing the love of Christ in several communities. We want to connect with people, provide for their perceived needs, and give them the Gospel.
I leave for my mission trip on June 28th and return home on July 8th, 2013. With just a little time left before the trip, there is a lot of preparation to be done. You can help me prepare to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through your prayer and financial support. Please pray that God will continue to mold my heart and use me to impact His Kingdom for all of eternity. Pray that He will give our mission team unity. Especially, pray that God will prepare the hearts of the people in South Africa to receive Him.
As well as your prayers, I need your financial support. The cost of this trip is approximately $3200. This covers my travel expenses to and from South Africa, medical expenses, meals, and other ministry expenses. If you feel God leading you to be part of this wonderful ministry, please make your tax-deductible gift by clicking this link http://www.crowdrise.com/southafricayouthmiss. If you prefer to donate by check please make checks payable to Elizabeth Baptist Church and include Youth South Africa Mission Trip on the memo line.
Thank you for your prayers and possible financial support. No amount is too small. God is going to do great things in 2013!
For His glory,
Nia

Yesterday was such a glorious spring day.  It rained a little but the sky was so clear.  I found myself taking a picture of nature.  Look at the vibrant colors of spring.

Then this morning I looked at the seeds I planted some 2-3 weeks ago and they have blossomed into small vegetable and herb plants.  Outside my apricot tree is starting to get its leaves as it bears sweet fruit every year and I'm grateful to be on this earth.

Why go to the store to buy bread, when you can make it from scratch?

And another favorite quilt.  Except this is a vest that you call wearable art.

Today is St. Patrick's Day for those that celebrate it.  In honor of the day I thought it would be nice to make something green so I chose to make lemon cupcakes and here they are.

And here is another quilt I made thought you might like.

THE KITCHEN IS OPEN
Hi all and welcome to my blog.  I just want to take this time to show the incredible quilts I created.  49er's Rock.  I made this quilt 3 years ago before the 49ers made their outstanding comeback, how is that for hindsight.

This quilt I also made in 2010.  Straight Up Raider Nation. This is for the avid Raiders fans.  I have patterns available for each of these quilts.
